DRIVING THE DAY: At 1:05 p.m. in the East Room, the President “delivers a statement about the action we need to take to keep our economy growing and reduce our deficit.”
--WEST WING MINDELD: The President will discuss the need for Congress to act, including passing right away the bill the Senate passed that protects 98 percent of Americans from a massive tax hike at the end of the year. The President is not putting forward a specific or new plan today. Instead, he will be calling on Congress to work together to tackle these and other issues to move our economy forward. There will be an audience in the East Room, but the President will not take questions.
